Pearl Jam – Alive

Pearl Jam is, alongside Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, representatives of grunge, one of the varieties of rock music. Their debut album “Ten” climbed to the top of the charts in 1992. Hits such as “Jeremy”, “Evenflow” and “Alive” were sung by teenagers around the world.

Guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready and bassist Jeff Ament met in the first half of the 1980s. Ament and Gossard in 1984 founded the band Green River, later recognized as one of the pioneers of grunge. Three years later, together with the singer Andrew Wood (Malfunkshun) they called the Mother Love Bone, which marked the end of the Green River. The group’s career was interrupted by the tragic death of Wood, who overdosed on 19 March 1990.

Wood’s friends from Seattle (musicians Mother Love Bone and Soundgarden) in his tribute recorded the album “Temple Of The Dog” under such a banner. At the same time, Gossard, McCready and Ament were working on a new team. Demo tape by drummer Jacek Irons (later a member of Pearl Jam) went to singer Eddie Vedder from San Diego. Dave Krusen became the first drummer of the new group.

On October 22, 1990, the band played their first concert at the Off Ramp club in Seattle, under the name Mookie Blaylock. This day is considered the official date of the band’s creation. Mookie Blaylock was named after the New Jersey Nets basketball player, but was eventually changed to Pearl Jam. The group’s debut album titled the number with which Blaylock played, which is 10 (“Ten”).
