Santana
Carlos Santana (July 20, 1947) is an extraordinarily talented guitarist, born in Mexico and a U.S. citizen. The passion for music is inherited from his father, who is a violinist. He also knows how to play the violin, but at the age of 8, he discovered that his thing was the guitar.
Santana became famous in the 1960s, thanks to the Woodstock Festival, where he impressed everyone with his vast musical style. This great artist has a fantastic ability to mix and master styles as different from each other as rock, funk, jazz, salsa and Latin music. That’s the most outstanding feature of his artistic work and what made him famous around the world.
Santana’s style is influenced by great musicians such as B.B. King, John Lee Hooker and Bone Walker. In 1961 he moved to San Francisco, California, which was the cultural cradle of the hippie movement that inspired and influenced Santana’s musical work. Throughout his career, the guitarist was the leader of several rock bands, although these changed very often, due to the typical instability of the artists. Santana had more and more fans being one of the first Latin artists to succeed in America. The songs that were most successful here and in the world were “Black Magic Woman,” “Oye como va” and “Samba Pa Ti.”
In the 70s, he experienced progressive rock, where he demonstrates all his talent through the album “Caravanserai,” which speaks of positive aspects of life such as joy, peace and love. In the 80s, he fully developed jazz style through his album “The swing of delight.” In the 1990s, he presented a new album, “Spirits dancing in the flesh,” which is considered the best and most complete of his career. Santana has continued to work on music to this day, remaining as current as the first day.
