Muse – Uprising

English rock trio. They play in the composition – Matthew Bellamy (lead vocal, guitar, piano), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass, keyboards) and Dominic Howard (drums). One of their greatest musical fascinations is Queen, Jimi Hendrix. They have over eight million records sold worldwide.
At first, there was the Gothic Plague group, then Fixed Penalty, Rocket Baby Dolls. Under the latter name, Matt and Chris won their first competition and decided to take music seriously. When Wolstenholme joined them, they abandoned their studies and jobs. They changed the signboard to Muse, and as one of the reasons for choosing this name, they later stated that “it is short and will look good on posters”.
After several concerts in London and Manchester, on their way, they met a man named Dennis Smith, thanks to which their first EP simply entitled “Muse” (1998) was released. At the beginning of the following year, the mini-album “Muscle Museum” was released. After concluding the contract with Taste Media – at the beginning of October 1999 their debut longplay “Showbiz” hit the stores, which was very well received by critics.

Two years later the album “Origin of Symmetry” was released. The musicians went in the direction of creative experiments – in the sound layer you can hear church organs, mellotrons, as well as electric percussion. The listeners were delighted.

In 2002, an unprecedented event occurred. Celine Dion, planning her performances in Las Vegas, wanted to name them “Muse”, unfortunately, it turned out that this name is protected by copyright. Diva offered the band 50,000 dollars, which the musicians strongly rejected, ironically acknowledging: “We do not want to be seen as a band accompanying Celine Dion on stage, although she herself can possibly sing in their choirs.” This coincided with the release of the double compilation “Hullabaloo Soundtrack”, which, however, included two new issues – “In Your World” and “Dead Star”.

The following year, the album “Absolution” hit stores, with the band’s first big hit – “Time Is Running Out”. Soon after, the group went on their first international tour. The musicians played, among others, in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and Europe. During the tour – Howard’s father died unexpectedly of a heart attack, but it was decided to continue playing and not interrupt the tour. Meanwhile, in the United States alone, the album has achieved golden status.
